Senior Solutions Systems Engineer

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be expected to be a self-starter, and entrepreneur as you are responsible for providing technical leadership in the delivery of engineering aspects required for enablement, fulfillment, and operation of servers, storage, and infrastructure to specific customers within our targeted federal markets. Measures of success for this position include delivery of high-quality solutions that meet schedule and development budget goals while providing timely resolution of issues experienced during production builds and initial customer deployments. You will need to be versed in multiple software, hardware vendors. You need to be able to learn and utilize the OEM partner portals to provide quotes quickly and efficiently for the customers in an expeditious manner daily.

** Additionally, this role will often interact directly with our end customers in the delivery and support of IMPRES Technology Solutions. **

**This position will include occasional travel to customer sites.**



  • Specify, design, and validate custom security, software, network, server, and storage platforms in support of solution requirements on a per-customer basis, engaging directly with marketing and the customer as needed.
  • Support the development of SOW/RFP responses for the customer, working with IMPRES marketing, Sales, and program management teams to ensure technically compliant and competitively relevant responses.
  • Quickly provide configurations for quotes using OEM Tools (i.e. Dell partner tool or HPE partner tool). Also provide additional possible upgrades or additional requests which may lead to further discussions with the customer.
  • Perform technical feasibility and evaluation of proposed product solutions to ensure customer requirements and OEM quality, manufacturing and serviceability goals are met.
  • Oversee sample build and coordination for IMPRES customers, which includes testing and validation of customer specified features, benchmarks, and other metrics.
  • Partner with Services and OEMs and other Partners as required, to provide technical support for all customer engagements; before, during and after the sales process.
  • Provide engineering support for delivery of systems to customers, including support with OEMs during product builds as well as support at their manufacturing integration facilities to ensure systems are correctly built, integrated at the rack or container level, and configured prior to deployment to customers.
  • Work with marketing to ensure that your customer priorities and requirements are tracked, understood, and incorporated into future product plans.
  • Must be able to work independently to identify new opportunities and help garner relationships with our customer base.


Successful candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Extensive x86 system engineering experience in either the development of computer or storage systems through an ODM relationship or through direct systems engineering development experience.
  • Strong ability to organize and manage multiple projects, set priorities, and work independently under aggressive timelines.
  • Ability to write and analyze requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, server, storage hardware architecture and systems.
  • Experience with Dell EMC Storage, Pure Storage preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization and cloud solutions desirable
  • Experience with software and system hardware in a design, development, test, or equivalent role that requires detailed analysis and debug of issues, leading to root cause identification and resolution.
  • Experience with multiple OEM vendors a must.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional development efforts through conception, planning, implementation, and sustaining.
  • Thorough understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products, and competitive offerings, to allow for best of breed selection and integration.
  • Ability to analyze options for critical design elements/features and determine optimum selection.
  • Thorough ability to identify potential product weakness and be able to provide design guidance and recommendations for improvements to subsequent redesigns.
  • Working insight and skill to effectively manage cultural differences.
  • Ideally, experience engaging with and supporting end customers.
  • OEM Certifications are helpful (Dell, Cisco, etc). Experience doing pre-sales technical consulting (preferably for federal government).
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience with a BSEE or equivalent degree.
