The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has awarded the first in a series of awards for the Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract. Scope

The MDA SHIELD (Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense) is a multiple-award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract administered by the Missile Defense Agency. The contract carries a 10-year, $151 billion ceiling and is designed to rapidly acquire advanced defense capabilities in support of the “Golden Dome” initiative.
 
SHIELD encompasses a broad range of work areas that allows for the rapid delivery of innovative capabilities to the warfighter with increased speed and agility, leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning enabled applications where pertinent, and maximizing use of digital engineering, open systems architectures, model-based systems engineering, and agile processes in the acquisition, development, and sustainment of these capabilities.
 
The MDA MAC IDIQ supports national defense objectives by ensuring continuous, layered protection against air, missiles, space, cyber, and hybrid threats originating from any vector — land, sea, air, space, or cyberspace. This effort supports commercial and non-commercial services and commodities of both classified and unclassified efforts on multiple security domains.
